The works for the flood protection work on Areos, Onisilou, Athens, Achilleos, Xanthi Xenierou streets, in the city within the walls of Nicosia, are starting.
The Municipality of Nicosia, in an announcement states that “the project, which will be executed in two phases, will have a total duration of 5 months and is expected to be completed in March 2022”.
The main goal of the project is the construction of an integrated network of rain gutters for the drainage of rainwater, which will solve the serious problems arising from the floods.
In addition, works will be carried out to replace the sewerage network, underground telecommunication networks and reconstruction of roads and sidewalks.
The construction works of the first phase of the project include Athinon and Onisilou streets and will start on November 8, 2021. Some preliminary works may start on November 1, 2021 (section of Patriarch Gregory) without any obstruction of traffic.
With the completion of the first phase, the works of the second phase on Xanthis Xenierou, Areos and Achilleos streets will follow.
