A yellow warning for severe thunderstorms has been issued by the Met Office for Thursday.
The warning takes effect from 14:00 noon today , until tonight at 11:00 pm.
According to the Meteorological Service, a strong storm is expected, mainly in the western half of the island.

It is noted that in the afternoon, the weather will be mainly cloudy at times and local rains and isolated storms are expected. The phenomena may locally, mainly in the western half of the island, be prolonged or even intense, while in a storm it is not excluded that hail may fall. Winds will be mainly southwest to northwest, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, but locally on the windward coasts to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be a little rough in the east, but quite rough on the rest of the coast.
Tonight, the weather will remain partly cloudy with isolated showers and thunderstorms. Winds will be mainly southwest to northwest weak, 3 Beaufort and transient locally in the west to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be a little rough and locally upwind to rough. The temperature will drop to 9 degrees in the interior, around 13 on the coast and 5 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tomorrow, the weather will be partly cloudy and at times mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Winds will be mainly southwest to northwest, initially light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, but soon to windward moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort and transient locally to very strong, 5 to 6 Beaufort. The sea will be a little rough in the east and on the rest of the coasts a little rough to rough. The temperature will rise to 18 degrees inland, around 20 on the south and east coasts, around 19 on the west and north coasts and 10 degrees in the higher mountains.
Saturday, early morning there will be locally increased clouds which are expected to give isolated showers, however later the weather will improve noticeably. From late afternoon, increased high clouds will be observed. On Sunday and Monday, the weather will be mostly cloudy, with medium and high clouds.
The temperature is not expected to change significantly during the three days and will remain slightly below the average climatic values.< /p>
