EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said he was ready to continue the dialogue with the Turkish side, following a teleconference he had with the Commission President and the Turkish President on Saturday.
In particular, the High Representative stated that “we are ready to continue working for a dialogue with Turkey. “I look forward to welcoming Mevlüt Çavuşoλουlu to Brussels to continue the mandate we received from the leaders at the European Council in December.”
As announced earlier, the scheduled teleconference ended in a positive atmosphere, with Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stating that “we had a positive exchange with Turkish President R.T. Erdogan “and that the two sides” exchanged views on the situation in relation to the COVID19 pandemic, the economic recovery and the implementation of the framework of the decisions of the European Council of December 2020 “.
