Who was Zeta Aimilianidou

Zeta Aimilianidou was born in Nicosia. He obtained a law degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds a degree in “Marketing Management” from the Cyprus Institute of Marketing. She has passed the exams of the Pancyprian Bar Association and has been a registered lawyer since 1978.

In 1979 she was appointed to the Customs Department of the Republic of Cyprus and has offered her services in almost all its fields. During the period 1988-1992 he worked as a member of the team that designed and prepared the legislation on Value Added Tax. In 1992, he was appointed Senior VAT Officer and in 1996, he was appointed First Customs Officer. the position of Director of the Customs Department and VAT Registrar. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Ports Authority.

During her many years of service, she was responsible for the implementation of the acquis communautaire in terms of customs legislation, in the context of the pre-accession negotiations of the Republic of Cyprus with the European Union, which resulted in the full accession of Cyprus to the EU. 1 May 2004. He was also the leader of the team that prepared this Customs Legislation. She is the author of the book entitled “The Value Added Tax in Cyprus” which was published in 1992, the year when the VAT Legislation came into force for the first time.

From March 15, 2010 until April 2, 2013 she held the position of Director General of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism. During this period, he was responsible for completing the 2nd Round of Licensing of Hydrocarbons in Offshore Areas of Cyprus. She was the Chairman of the Advisory Committee, which according to the law was responsible for evaluating the applications of the companies that expressed interest, which eventually led to the signing of contracts for 5 pieces of the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus.

Priority was also given to issues related to competition, consumer protection, technology development and the encouragement of innovation, the creation of supportive infrastructures for the development and modernization of the business environment, the protection of intellectual property, its support and development. industry and the promotion of exports of products and services. At the same time, special emphasis was placed on the implementation of the tourism development strategy, including the promotion of maritime tourism, with the development of the Marinas and the creation of new golf courses.

She was the Director General of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism during the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from the Republic of Cyprus and also served as President of the Cyprus Energy Foundation and the Special Fund for Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Saving.

On April 3, 2013 he was appointed by the President of Of Democracy in the position of the Minister of Labor and Social Insurance of the Republic of Cyprus, a position he held until today.
