A large annual increase in the price of olive oil and fruit as well as in passenger transport was recorded in April, according to data taken from the recent publication of the Statistics Office's consumer price index, which edited by the Cyprus Consumers Association.
Specifically, the price of olive oil in April 2024 increased by 63.61% compared to April 2023. In addition, passenger transport prices increased by 16, 54%, while for fresh fruit by 15.99%.
Compared to the previous month, an increase of 12.58% was noted in the price of footwear for infants and children, while an increase of 11.83% was also noted in hotel prices in April, compared to March 2024. The increase in the price of gasoline, by 10.27%, is also noteworthy compared to the previous month.
According to the data processed by the Cyprus Consumers Association, compared to last April, the prices in air passenger transportation were reduced by 18.31% in April 2024. Reduction of 16.77% was also noted in the prices of fresh vegetables, while sugar also recorded a decrease of 13.79%, compared to the same month last year.
Fresh vegetable prices decreased in April and compared to March 2024 , by 7.34%.
