As stated in the announcement, prevention is more effective than any treatment, says the European Plan Against Cancer, which highlights that prevention is also the most cost-effective long-term strategy for cancer control.

It is also reported that since 40% of cancer cases could be prevented, the European Plan aims to raise awareness and tackle key risk factors such as cancers caused by smoking, harmful alcohol consumption, obesity and lack of physical activity , exposure to pollution, carcinogens and radiation, as well as cancers caused by infections.

According to the announcement of the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association, the association's vice-president Alekos Stamatis emphasized that the Association aims to raise public awareness of these issues with the aim of avoiding future diseases.

“Our responsibility lies in the design and implementation of holistic policies and we underline that as the Anti-Cancer Association of Cyprus we are next to the competent authorities with our expertise to create policies that will contribute to the protection of the health of the citizens of our state”, he added.

The announcement states that #ListenToYourBody inspirational and motivational open discussions are held every month and are open to the public and aim to inspire the public to adopt better habits in their daily lives towards a healthier lifestyle.
