which do not satisfy the legislation should be withdrawn from the market, announces the Department of the Environment.

Plastic containers containing up to three liters of drinking liquids can only be placed on the market with the lids and covers attached, according to an announcement by the Environment Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment. It is noted that this provision is implemented from July 3, 2024 onwards. In fact, any stocks that do not satisfy the legislation should be withdrawn from the market before the above date, announces the Department of the Environment.

According to the announcement, single-use plastic products with caps and covers made of plastic will only be allowed to be placed on the market with caps and covers attached during the intended use stage of the product. It is noted that metal lids or covers with plastic gaskets are not considered to be made of plastic.

The Environment Department clarifies that this requirement concerns beverage containers (containers containing products in liquid form that are consumed by drinking, such as milk, water, wine, beer, soft drinks, juices, nectars, instant drinks, etc.) with a capacity of up to three liters, i.e. containers such as beverage bottles, as well as complex beverage packaging.

From this regulation excludes glass or metal beverage containers that have plastic lids and covers and beverage containers intended and used for liquid food for special medical purposes.
