The National Report was published by the Ministry of Health. According to the national report, there is a small increase in the cumulative impact, in all the Provinces. Based on age, at present the greatest burden is seen in the age group of 10-19 years.

Highlights:

• The data analysis period concerns March 2020 with its 26th of October
2021.

• As of October 26, 2021, 655 deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19 have been reported to the Health Monitoring Unit of the Ministry of Health. 64% concern men (n = 419 deaths) and the remaining 36% concern women (n = 236 deaths).

Of the 655 deaths, 570 (87%) had COVID-19 as the underlying cause.

• 64% of the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 disease, concerns
men (n = 363 deaths) and the remaining 36% are women (n = 207 deaths).

• 50% of the total number of deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19, concerns people aged 69-85 years, with a median age of death of 78 years and a mean age of 76.1.

• The total number of deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19, during the month of August 2021 (n = 93), exceeded the number of deaths of December 2020 (n = 86) and January 2021 (n = 86). From the beginning of the pandemic until today, the percentage for the three months with the highest numbers, reaches 40% of the total number of deaths. It is followed by April 2021 with a percentage of 10% (n = 66), May 2021 with a percentage of 9% (n = 58)
and July with a percentage of 7% (n = 46).

• The highest percentage of deaths of people positive for COVID-19 disease, with the underlying cause of death being COVID-19 disease, concerns people with permanent residence in the District of Limassol (n = 208, 36%). They are followed by the Province of Nicosia (n = 179, 31%), the Province of Larnaca (n = 105, 18%), the Province of Paphos (n = 40, 7%), the Province of Famagusta (n = 30, 5%), 6 deaths have Unspecified Province of permanent residence (1%) and 2 deaths concern residents
abroad.

• Limassol has the highest mortality rate per 100,000 population (83.6 deaths per 100,000 population). It is followed by Larnaca with 69.6 deaths, Famagusta with 61.3 deaths, Nicosia with 51.8 deaths and finally Paphos with 42.6
deaths per 100,000 population.

As of October 23, 2021, 122,318 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the laboratory

In the last 14 days (October 10 – 23, 2021) 1,815 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the laboratory. The cumulative effect of 14 days of COVID-19
(diagnosed cases of 14 days per 100,000 inhabitants, is 204.4 per 100,000 inhabitants

A total of 608 patients (10.6% of the total number of patients) were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU4). The median age of those admitted to the ICU was 66 years (Intra-quadrant range: 57-73 years). The patients in the ICU were mainly men (n = 388, 63.8%). The median length of stay in the ICU (for all patients admitted to the ICU) is 13 days (Intra-quadrant range: 8-22 days).

According to the registered data, on October 25, 2021, 10 patients (diagnosed until October 23, 2021) were in the ICU. The median age of these patients was 64 years (endothelial range: 59-73 years). 70% (n = 7) of the cases concerned men.

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) refers to the ICUs of the Limassol General Hospital and the General Hospital
Nicosia.

By October 23, 2021, 98.7% (n = 119,992) of COVID-19 cases have been released / recovered.

The number of patients currently in the ICU, according to registered data, per 100,000 inhabitants, is 1.1.

Of the 608 patients admitted to the ICU, 580 (95.4%) were intubated and 8 are still intubated.

By October 25, 2021, a total of 4.7% (n = 5,713) of COVID19 cases received hospital treatment. The median age of individuals who
were hospitalized for 60 years (Intra-quadrant range: 47-72 years). Excluding 6
cases without available information, hospital care was concerned
mainly in men (n = 3.229, 56.5%).

The median age of people still hospitalized (until October 25, 2021 and diagnosed by October 23, 2021, including those who were discharged, transferred or died on that day – n = 60) is 67 years (Intra-quadrant range: 58-77 years ) and 56.7% (n = 34) concern men. 40% (n = 22 of the 55 cases with available information) concern patients from the province of Nicosia, while 28 out of 45 people with available information (62.2%) reported underlying diseases.
