“Game wardens almost shot each other while on commissioned duty, due to deliberately wrong and misleading instructions they received from their superiors »

The Equality guild in its statement calls on the Minister of the Interior to intervene, in order to have a meeting with the Head of the Game and Wildlife Service, Pantelis Hatzigerou, warning that otherwise the guild will protect the rights of its members by any trade union and legal means.

In today's announcement, the guild speaks of “an uncompromising and defiant attitude displayed by the Head of the Ministry of Health Pantelis Hatzigerou towards our fair and urgent requests for dialogue regarding critical issues of safety, training and equipment of its staff Of his service”.

“Despite our letters and our live communication with the Ministry of the Interior and the Presidential Office about the unacceptable behavior of the Head of the YTP, who stubbornly refuses to discuss with us the problems faced by Hourly Gamekeepers, unfortunately we are facing a wall of silence and inaction on the part of the political leadership. This indifference constitutes a flagrant violation of every concept of good administration and social dialogue”, states the guild.

Among other things, Equality claims that Mr. Hatzigerou “systematically refuses” to grant union time to the president of the sector, while he complains that when the president of the sector reported a violation of workers' personal data to the competent Commissioner “Mr. Hatzigerou ordered a disciplinary investigation against him President with false accusations, while he threatened to impeach him”.

He also mentions that “Service workers were forced to remain trapped in the countryside for 15 hours, under miserable weather conditions”, as well as that ” game wardens almost shot each other while on commissioned duty, due to the deliberately incorrect and misleading instructions they received from their superiors”.

Equality calls on “the Home Secretary to intervene immediately so that a meaningful meeting can take place with the Head of the UTHP as soon as possible” and concludes by saying that otherwise, it will utilize every trade union and legal means to defend the rights of its members and restore a constructive spirit of consultation and understanding.
