Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that Moscow is ready to sever ties with the European Union if the latter hits it with painful economic sanctions, according to an interview posted today on the ministry's website.
Relations between Russia and the West have come under renewed pressure over the arrest and imprisonment of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, which has fueled discussions of possible new sanctions.
