Specifically, a bus lane is created despite the initial decision on Homer, with the first issue that arose being how the decision was made without any official placement of the parties involved in the project and without notice to the public.
The second issue is the fact that there is no signage and already – fortunately saving the worst – accidents with cyclists have already been caused.
On the subject our website requested the placement of the Municipality of Nicosia, which reported to us that indeed the bicycle lane was turned into a lane lane after consultation with the Department of Public Works, with the aim according to the reply letter we received the safety of cyclists.
Specifically, the bike lane will take place in Tafro, with a connection from Egyptou Street to Solomou Square and direction to Eleftherias Square.
The question mark to the Public Works and the Municipality of Nicosia remains, since the risk of accidents is obvious without the appropriate markings, until the project is completed.

The transfer of the bicycle lane, for which there is a decision of the central body, will take place in Tafro, with a connection from Egyptou Street to Solomou square and direction to Eleftherias Square. With this development, a single connection will be created between the trenches, in combination with the work of regenerating the outer perimeter of the Trench Arch. The point on Homer Avenue, where the bicycle lane is currently located, will be converted into a lane, in order to facilitate even more the movement of buses to the main bus station in Solomos Square. This change also serves to achieve a unified network of bus lanes in the city center.
