Aris assistant coach Vitalis Astafievs also spoke about the dismissal of Alexei Spilevski at the press conference.
His statements in detail:
“First of all I want to say thank you to our fans who supported us in this game, they created a great atmosphere. Today we showed a top level, the game showed that the two leaders of the league were playing. In the first half we had clear chances to score on three or four occasions to take the lead, but goals are what win the game. We didn't score many goals, we made mistakes in defense. We played a good game, we showed that we are on the right path, we have a good team and we will continue like this”. i>“This is our first year, Aris is a new team. We need more time for this. We can show more quality football more slowly. Sometimes the lack of concentration takes its toll. I think today was a top game”.
On the dismissal of Spilefski: “First of all let me say that we are a team that respects the referees. At this moment it was emotional, our coach made something like a joke with the referee (s.b. he means the quarterback) but his intention was not understood and he was sent off. At times some referees want to show who is the boss but know that what they have to do is to help the smooth running of the match”.
On whether his suspension affected the team coach:“It definitely affected, it was difficult times for us and something we didn't expect”.
