If there is no progress by Friday, they will go on a general strike from Monday
The mobilization of Turkish Cypriot breeders in front of the ” prime minister' continues for a fourth day.
The president of the “union of producers and breeders”, Mustafa Naimoglulari, and his entourage met yesterday afternoon with trade unions and non-governmental organizations, deciding to give the “government” a deadline until Friday to cancel the import of meat.
The unions said that, if there is no progress by Friday, they will go on a general strike from Monday.
Today, protesters lit a fire again in front of the “prime ministry”, while throwing eggs and watermelons at the building of the “ministry of public works” .
Mr. Naimoglulari, in his statement a while ago, said that they are facing a “government” that is leading the t/c community into chaos. He said that they are being ruined by daily price increases and that importing meat is not a solution.
He expressed that the problem is to continue production and that they will fight for their rights until the end, saying “don't speak without knowing how will you look this people in the eye. Whom are you serving?”.
Mr. Naimoglulari said that Turkish producers have now woken up. The protesters also symbolically burned a coffin.
The mobilization continues.
