Residents in Dali and the surrounding areas are upset since shortly before Easter, they are faced with a new “asphalt”. The problem concerns a factory in the industrial area of Idali which, after securing a permit from the Department of the Environment for work related to plastic processing, applied again for aluminum processing and before obtaining the necessary permits has already acquired equipment worth millions of euros.

The consultation is currently underway on the website of the Environment Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment and will remain open for objections until 10 May. The residents of the area request that a permit not be granted by the Minister of Agriculture, the Department of the Environment, and the Parliamentary Committee on the Environment, as they are talking about an illegal factory and have submitted their objections to the Municipality Idaliou as well as all the candidate mayors and have proceeded with efforts to register the matter in the Parliamentary Environment Committee for discussion.

The organized groups of the area such as the Movement for the Improvement of the Quality of Life and the Initiative Group of Mothers of the Parish of “Agios Konstantinou & Elenis” with their mobilization so far they have succeeded in forcing the factory to submit an EIA (Environmental Impact Study) for its use. In the submitted study, however, there are inaccuracies regarding the factory's waste as well as the coexistence of aluminum and PVC furnaces on adjacent production lines.
