A search and rescue operation is underway for Sriwijaya Air, which lost contact with the control tower a few minutes after taking off from Jakarta. Indonesian authorities have determined the coordinates of the aircraft and boats have been deployed in the area where it crashed. “We are deploying our teams and ships in the area,” Babang Sourio Azi, a rescue official, told reporters.
Rescuers have located debris that may have come from it, at sea, off the Indonesian capital. Capt. Echo Surya Hady , commander of the Trisula Coast Guard, said wreckage and human limbs had been found at sea .
