The popularity rating of US President Joe Biden fell this month to its lowest level in two years, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
The four-day poll, which ended Monday, showed the percentage of Americans who approve Biden's political performance has dropped to 36%, from 38% in April.
Such a low percentage was recorded for the last time in July 2022.
23% of respondents consider the state of the economy to be the country's most important problem. 21% cite political extremism as a top issue and 13% immigration.
They prefer Trump
Trump leads slightly in several polls in states likely to decide the winner.
About 40% said Trump had better economic policy, while only 30% said Biden was better.
p>Trump leads significantly on immigration as well, with 42% preferring his own approach and 25% favoring Biden's policy.
On wars abroad and dealing terrorism, 36% consider Trump more capable of dealing with them while 29% prefer Biden.
Biden is seen as better at managing political extremism (34% vs. Trump's 30%).
