The declining trend of unemployment in the country lately has dragged down the unemployment of young people. Specifically, based on what was announced a few days ago by the EU Statistical Office, the unemployment rate of young people under 25 in our country was in September at 6.8%, compared to 20.9% in September last year. According to the same data of Eurostat, at the same percentage, ie at 6.8%, was youth unemployment in August and July this year. It is noted that in the previous Eurostat announcement, issued on 30 September for the unemployment rate in August, there was no data on youth unemployment for the months of July and August in Cyprus, while the unemployment rate of young people under 25 for in June it was estimated at 20.1%, which with the latest announcement of Eurostat decreased slightly to 19.9%.

The youth unemployment rate in Cyprus in September is now well below the eurozone and EU average, at 16% and 15.9% respectively. In fact, it was the third lowest among all EU member states, with only the Czech Republic (6.3%) and Germany (6.8%) having the lowest youth unemployment rates in September.
