A month ago, in March 2023, total new loans in Cyprus showed an increase and reached 922.5 million euros, compared to 527.5 million euros in February 2023. New consumer loans increased to 30.7 million euros, new loans for housing purchase showed an increase to 199.5 million euros, new loans to non-financial companies for amounts up to 1 million euros increased to 109 million euros and new loans to non-financial companies for amounts over 1 million euros registered an increase to 571.2 million euros.

In February 2023, total new loans had increased and reached 527.5 million euros. New consumer loans had increased to 16.3 million euros and new loans for the purchase of housing had shown a decrease to 85.5 million euros. However, new loans to non-financial companies for amounts up to 1 million euros had decreased to 44.5 million euros, while, on the contrary, new loans to non-financial companies for amounts above 1 million euros had recorded an increase to 374 million euros.

January also did not turn out to be particularly good. In January 2023, total new loans had decreased to €305.7 million, compared to €545.2 million in December 2022. New consumer loans had decreased to €13.1 million, new loans for the purchase of housing had shown a decrease, to 90.9 million euros, new loans to non-financial companies for amounts up to 1 million euros had recorded a decrease, to 51.4 million euros and finally, new loans to non-financial companies for amounts over 1 million euros, had recorded a decrease to 144.1 million euros.
