At 1,784 new cases and 39 deaths in Greece

EODY announced today that the new laboratory confirmed cases of the disease recorded in the last 24 hours are 1,784, of which 10 were identified after checks at the country's gates. The total number of cases is 186,469 (daily change + 1.0%), of which 51.8% are men.

Based on the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 63 are considered related to travel from abroad and 2,600 are related to an already known case.

The new deaths of patients with COVID-19 are 39, while since the beginning of the epidemic a total of 6,410 deaths have been recorded. 95.7% had underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older.

The number of patients treated by intubation is 367 (70.0% men). Their median age is 69 years. 86.1% have underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,315 patients have been discharged from the ICU. The new admissions of Covid-19 patients in the hospitals of the territory are 292 (daily change -3.95%). The average seven-day admission is 274 patients.

Age distribution: The median age of cases is 44 years (range 0.2 to 105 years), while the median age of death is 79 years (range 15 to 103 years).

National Genomic Surveillance Network for SARS-CoV-2 mutations

Genomic analysis was completed on 487 selected new samples for the period 05 January 2021 up to 18

February 2021. The samples come from the Regions of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Central Macedonia, and Attica and

the Regional Units of Mytilene, Kalymnos and Evia.

A total of 242 strains with variants of concern emerged from the control. Of the 242 executives

226 found with the mutation B.1.1.7 / UK lineage (VariantVOC_202012), 12 strains found with the mutation LineageB.1.351 / South Africa

(Variant501V2) while 1 strain was found with the Lineage A.23.1 / Uganda mutation (Table 3). A total of 990 positives have been identified for

the presence of mutation B.1.1.7 / UKlineage (Variant VOC_202012) (Table 4) and 27 positive for the presence of mutation B.1.351 / South Africa

(Variant 501V2) from the start of operation of the National Genomic Surveillance Network for SARS-CoV-2 mutations until today. The

12 positive for the presence of mutation Lineage B.1.351 / South Africa (Variant 501V2) are all domestic all come from the Regional

Unit of Thessaloniki. The one positive with the presence of mutation Lineage A.23.1 / Uganda is domestic and comes from the Regional

Central Sector Unit of Athens.
