Closed roads around the old City Hall of Nicosia due to renovation

Due to the improvement works that are being carried out in a part of the area of the old City Hall on the pedestrian street of Eptanisou Street and in a part of Isaakiou Komninou Street, in order to revitalize the old city, some roads will be temporarily closed for wheeled traffic from March 20 until April 15, 2021, according to an announcement by the Municipality of Nicosia.

Specifically, Alkiviadous, Diogenous and part of Isaakiou Komninou Street will be closed, from its junction with Eptanisou Street to its junction with Piraeus Street.

It is noted that the entrance to Alkiviadous and Diogenous streets will be allowed only for catering vehicles and for any needs of shopkeepers or residents.

In Plateias Dimarchias Street and in a part of Eptanisou Street – from its junction with Plateias Dimarchias Street to its junction with Palias Ilektrikis Street – the one-way street will be reversed with a permitted direction to Palias Ilektrikis Street.

Drivers are required to follow the route suggested by the on-site vertical signs and specifically for traffic from west to east of the old town, vehicles can travel from Lefkonos – Trikoupi – Dionysos – Pl. City Hall and Old Electricity in the direction of Pentadaktylou Street. Respectively, in the direction of Isaakiou Komninou Street, the vehicles can be moved from Lefkonos – Aeschylus – Agios Savvas – Trikoupi – Pl. Tyllirias – Piraeus.

For traffic from Trikoupi Street to Isaakiou Komninou Street, vehicles can be moved through Trikoupi – Pl. Tyllirias – Piraeus – Isaakiou Komninou, for the traffic from the Famagusta Gate to Trikoupi Street, the following route should be followed: Athinas Street – Nikiforos Fokas Street – Agios Antonios Street – Patriarch Grigoriou Street from Elli Trikoupi Street to the Famagusta Gate should be followed by the following route: Tyllirias Street – Patriarch Grigoriou E'- Zenonos Kitieos Street – Adamantiou Korai Street – Nikiforou Fokas Street – Athinas Street, the announcement finally states.
