The two lawyers, according to a press release, are once again requesting a halt to the prosecution of monks Isaiah and Timothy.

A fair trial is one that is conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Charter and not one that is conducted in violation of them, say the lawyers of the monks Isaiah and Timothy, in the Abvakum Monastery case.

Lawyers Anastasios Vavouskos and Andriana Klaidis state in a press release that they have asked the Investigative Committee, presenting the relevant court decisions issued by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Tamasos and Orini, Mr. Isaias, to recognize the existence of a res judicata, which according to the Charter imposes the immediate cessation of any prosecution.

Despite this, they add, “desiring the most complete information of the Investigative Committee regarding the existence of the convicted and full proof, that on March 5, 2024 an ecclesiastical court took place in the Holy Metropolis of Tamasos and Orenis, we submitted to the above Committee Supplementary Memorandums, by which in view of videos posted on the Internet, which include statements by two members of the Throne Committee of the Diocese of Tamasos and Orini and eyewitnesses and eyewitnesses, Mr. Kypros Michaelidis and Mr. Christos Christos, who assure in the most categorical way that on March 5, 2024 an ecclesiastical court took place, which tried brothers of the Holy Monastery”.

We, too, continue, with the demand of the Blessed Archbishop of Nea Justiniani and all of Cyprus for a fair trial, “we expect that the A Commission of Inquiry, that is, it will be formed at the request of His Majesty, recognizing the existing and indisputable res judicata and ceasing all prosecution”.

“Because, we remind you, a fair trial is one that is conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Charter and not one that is conducted in violation of them. And we consider this to be self-evident, what His Holiness means, standing in favor of a fair trial for our clients”, they conclude.
