Citizens' Initiative protest event at Paphos Municipal Hall – Reason for the decision of the Board of Directors to award the “turn key” to the President of the Republic

Citizens' initiative from all over Cyprus expressed their protestthis evening, Thursday, outside the Paphos City Hall for the Municipal Council's decision to award the “golden key to the city” to the President of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiadis, as “an indication of recognition and appreciation for what he offered to city of Paphos”.
With placards, the protestors made an excuse for abuse of the institution by awarding an honorary distinction to the President of the Republic.
Furthermore, in a related announcement, the initiative argued that an aggravating factor in the Municipal Council's decision is the fact that “we are going through a pre-election period” and it is clear that the awarding of the honor constitutes pre-election fireworks strong> to serve specific candidates”.
The initiative of citizens from all over Cyprus called on the democratically minded people, as they mentioned, to join their voice in calling for the revocation of the decision of Municipal Co Council for the awarding of the “Golden Key of the City” to Nikos Anastasiadis.
