Yagos Tsivikos, the mayor of Inia, was strongly critical of the Akamas Local Plan today. Mr. Tsivikos reiterated that the main request of the communities is to give permission for a mildly controlled development in certain areas of the community, either to compensate the residents financially or to be compensated by granting land in other developed coastal areas, due to the non-utilization of the properties. their. Otherwise, he said, residents will take matters into their own hands. The local community said the mayor will not accept the plan and where he was a protector of the environment he will become his enemy. “They will push us to become enemies of Akamas,” Mr Tsivikos said.
Mr. Tsivikos wondered what he wants to protect the state, citing as an example the turmeric that exists throughout Cyprus. “They have not shown us that there is something important that they want to protect,” said Mr. Tsivikos, provoking those in charge to prove that man can not coexist with courgettes and Alizavres.
According to Mr. Tsivikos, the residents do not want to cement Akamas, nor to turn him into Limassol or Ayia Napa, noting that what they are asking for is to find a common component to protect the environment, but at the same time for man to survive.
