The Pedagogical Institute of Cyprus (PI) in collaboration with the Directorates of Secondary General and Secondary Technical and Vocational Education and Training, the CEDAR Entrepreneurship Center, the support of the UCLan Cyprus University, and the grant of the KPMG company, the SYNTHESIS organization, and of GRAVITY company, organized for the fifth year the final Conference and Award Ceremony of the competition of the same name, within the framework of the Creativity, Innovation and Business Idea “IDEODROMIO” program, aimed at students of secondary education (High Schools, High Schools and Technical Schools) in Cyprus .
In the opening welcome addressed by Dr. Fanos Tekelas, Director of the CEDAR Center for Entrepreneurship and Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at UCLan Cyprus, he said about the “IDEODROMIO” Program: “As one of the founders of the conference, I am particularly happy that every year the initiative grows, embracing more schools and new partners”.
This was followed by the greeting of the Minister of Education and Culture, Dr. Athena Michaelidou, which was read by Mr. Konstantinos Georgiou, EMTEE and General Coordinator of the Entrepreneurship Unit of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The Minister emphasized that the support of innovation and entrepreneurship is of vital importance in order to utilize the abilities of young people and for development to occur and that the “IDEODROMIO” program has demonstrated excellent results and is now a link between education and the business world, providing students with the opportunity to develop and present innovative ideas, enhancing their collaborative skills, entrepreneurship, creativity, innovation and self-confidence.
Then there was a brief review of the activities of the Creativity, Innovation and Business Idea program “IDEODROMIO” by Mrs. Calypso Apergi, Officer of the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute (P.I.) and Entrepreneurship Training Coordinator in Education for the P.I.
During the day, the more than 150 participating students put up posters, pitched their business ideas and had the opportunity to exchange experiences with other student groups, in a celebration of creation and inspiration, dedicated to innovation as well as social and green entrepreneurship.
They also heard, met and participated in a discussion with two groups of UCLan Cyprus university students who were awarded for their business ideas, Ecostate and Bio-Hair.
The day ended by holding the Creativity, Innovation and Business Idea Competition “IDEODROMIO”, with prizes in the categories Innovative Business Idea and Social and Green Idea, after evaluation by a jury. The selected teams presented and advocated their ideas live to the audience. The winning teams in the Innovative Business Idea category were: “AROMA COSMIMA”, of the Agios Athanasios High School and “SALMOS” of the Technical and Vocational School of Education and Training of Larnaca “Agiou Lazarou”. While the winning teams in the Social and Environmental Business Idea category were: “Fabricart”, from Stavros Gymnasium and “Loan Clothing” from Paphos Technical, Vocational Education and Training School.
As the Gold Team with the highest score, “AROMA COSMIMA” of Agios Athanasios High School was selected, where the students, together with the teacher in charge, will have the opportunity to travel abroad for an educational excursion. p>
