The Ministry of Health announces that today, February 9, 2021:
– No deaths of patients with a final cause of death of COVID-19 were recorded today, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 214.
– 94 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 35 are in serious condition.
– A total of 25,427 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).
– 95 (positivity rate: 0.37%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), bringing the total number of cases to 31,959 .
The current results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19 disease:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were reported today. Therefore, the total number of final causes of COVID-19 disease remains 214, of which:
145 men (68%), and
– 69 women (32%).
The average age of those who die from the disease is 79 years.
B. Patients:
In total, 94 patients with COVID-19 are treated in OKYPY hospitals, of which 35 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 35 patients who are critical, 23 are intubated in the Intensive Care Unit and 12 in the Intensive Care Unit.

C. Positive cases COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 25,427 laboratory diagnoses performed today, 1,559 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 23,868 by the antigen rapid test, 95 cases of COVID-19 were identified, which resulted as follows:
- 24 cases from 204 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 6 cases from 624 samples taken through private initiative.
- 12 cases from 244 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 7 cases from 708 samples tested by the method of antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
- 46 cases from 23,160 samples that were examined with the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were performed without detecting a case:
- 130 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 52 samples taken as part of a re-inspection carried out on the 7th day after the arrival of persons returning from the United Kingdom and being compulsorily confined to hotels in the Republic.
- 305 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
