The plan provides incentives, in the form of government sponsorship, to property owners or tenants of buildings (with the signed consent of the owners) in the area within the walls of Nicosia, for renovation of their premises or construction of new buildings, with the main purpose of conversion or creation, respectively, of student dormitories/student rooms. The total amount that will be allocated for sponsorships, during the implementation period of the project amounts to € 15 million. The minimum investment (eligible cost), both for the conversion of a building into a dormitory/student rooms and for the construction of a new building for use as a dormitory/student rooms, is set at € 140,000. The maximum amount of sponsorship per beneficiary is € 2,000,000. The amount of the sponsorship (sponsorship intensity) will be as follows: 75% of the eligible costs of each proposal for & nbsp; conversion of an existing building & nbsp; into a dormitory/dormitories and 50% of the eligible costs of each Proposal for & nbsp; construction of a new building & nbsp; intended for student dormitories/student rooms.

At the beginning of June, as part of the efforts to upgrade the capital, the first Call for Proposals and the & nbsp; Sponsorship Plan for Enhanced Business Activity in the walled city of Nicosia followed. The second plan concerns the provision of financial support to Natural or Legal persons, owners or tenants of buildings (with the signed consent of the owners), who carry out or will carry out economic activity, for the purpose of strengthening business activity, in the area within the walls of Nicosia.
