Greece - Italy to exchange instruments on ratification of maritime demarcation agreement on Monday

Greece and Italy will exchange the instruments of ratification of the Agreement between the two countries for the delimitation of the respective maritime zones on the occasion of the visit of the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias to Rome and the Vatican between November 8-9.

According to an announcement posted on the website of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Dendias will have a meeting with his Italian counterpart Luigi Di Maio. Following the enlarged talks, the two Foreign Ministers will exchange the instruments of ratification of the Agreement between the two countries for the delimitation of the respective maritime zones. Joint statements to the press will follow.

On Tuesday, November 9, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will go to the University of Rome La Sapienza where he will address the opening of the International Conference on “Italian Philhellenism and the Revolution of 1821”.

The Foreign Minister will then visit the Italian House of Representatives and meet with Piero Fassino, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. After this meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will meet the members of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Italian Parliament. The talks are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral relations in all areas, co-operation within the European Union, the Western Balkans, the situation in Libya and developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.

The Greek Foreign Minister will also visit the headquarters of the World Food Program, where he is expected to have a meeting with his Deputy Executive Director, Amir Mahmoud Abdulla.

On Tuesday, the Foreign Minister, during his visit to the Vatican, is expected to have a meeting with the Secretary of State (Prime Minister) Cardinal, Pietro Parolin. During the same visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will inaugurate an Exhibition of Greek Art, organized by the Embassy of Greece in the Holy See, on the depiction of the human form in modern Greek art, from the post-Byzantine period to the modern era.
