<p data-block-key=The Organization of Paraplegics of Cyprus (OPAK) in the context of the dialogue with candidates for the upcoming elections of local governments and provincial organizations, prepared a memorandum with requests which asks the candidates to include in their campaign program and to commit that if elected they will promote them.

According to a statement, the requests of the Organization are the strict application of building accessibility legislation, the implementation of measures to encourage old buildings/businesses to become accessible e.g. reduce taxes or subsidize part of the cost, request to the parliament to apply an extrajudicial fine for urban planning illegalities for accessibility issues with the aim of quickly restoring legality/access.

Request also , to parliament for reporting illegal parking with a photo by police officers and traffic wardens or private companies that will undertake the management of such a service (such as the procedure applied to the photo-marking system on the streets) or by citizens with the necessary arrangements.

< p data-block-key="fhj8v">Also, creating a complete chain of sidewalks in our cities and where there are vacant lots, removing obstructions on sidewalks and trees where they are a nuisance and planting 2 trees for every one removed where they are not disturb the development and operation of services of a social nature to citizens.
