Latina star Jennifer Lopez was a guest at Grameen America's Raising Latina Voices event and among other things he spoke about motherhood, specifically saying the following:
“The best advice I tried to pass on to my kids was 'you can be whoever you think you can be.' Find yourself and don't give up. Learn from people who have done well in their lives and then take those ideas, refine them and make them your own. Listen to your parents, we're not as ignorant as we seem when you're 14.”
In fact, in a recent interview, the famous singer, actress and mother of two children revealed the reasons why she chose to make the above speech and share her advice with other parents. Here's what he had to say:
“When you get a little older, you understand the meaning behind things and you've seen enough and you've had your own struggle and enough injustices. I just feel like this country needs more love and positivity, and people who want to do good things and not fight against each other. People just shaking hands. That's important to me.
It seems like the only thing holding the Latino community back is financial literacy and access to capital. Being a Latina in this country has always been a matter of pride for me. I am humbled and grateful to partner with Grameen America. We build pathways to employment and leadership opportunities”.
