Spraying continues to combat mosquitoes, especially those of the Aedes aegypti species, which are capable under certain conditions of transmitting diseases to humans, such as Yellow Fever, Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya.
According to an announcement by the Municipality of Larnaca «the weather conditions unfortunately continue to be favorable for the growth of mosquitoes”.
Spraying in open areas with stagnant water, canals and rainwater grates, is carried out by a crew of the Sanitary Service of the Municipality of Larnaca, it is added.
Also, it is reported that crews made up of personnel from the Health Services of the Ministry of Health and the Municipality, continue the campaign against the Aedes aegypti mosquito by informing the public from door to door, placing oviposition traps, spraying larvicide as well as emptying the containers with standing water. "The entire work is carried out under the scientific supervision of the TEPAK research team" is being completed.
«Despite the repeated announcements of the Health Services, it was found that many citizens continue to keep stoves with stagnant water in their houses/properties» such as pots and saucers, containers, barrels, old tires, old tanks, grates and rain pits in the basements of houses/apartment buildings, swimming pools out of operation and others, says the Municipality «as a result it becomes more difficult to deal with mosquitoes, as the hatching continues  ; them and putting Public Health at risk”.
