Letter to Department of Public Administration from EQUALITY for hourly postmen – What it says
Letter on the issue of “unequal wage treatment” of hourly mail carriers relative to civil servants performing the exact same duties in the Postal Service Department , the All-Cypriot Trade Union EQUITY sent today to the Department of Public Administration and Personnel.
In its letter, EQUALITY states that the current situation constitutes a flagrant violation of fundamental principles and provisions of the Constitution, European and International Law on equality and equal treatment of employees and requests either the conversion of hourly wages to civil servants in the same salary scales, or the upgrading the hourly wage scales so that they receive the same salary as their colleagues for the same work.
“We consider this to be a very serious issue concerning the labor rights and the fair treatment of all workers” he says in Equality informs her, indicating that her letter highlights a long-standing injustice against hourly distributors that can no longer be tolerated.
The competent authorities must immediately take the necessary legislative and administrative actions to restoration of equality and equality of all workers who offer exactly the same work, notes the guild
