The company proceeded with a donation of €50,000 to upgrade the Crisis Management Service of the Cyprus Red Cross.
For the eleventh consecutive year, Lidl Cyprus confirms its commitment to the Cyprus Red Cross , offering a donation of €50,000, as a result of the “Giving Love” initiative. This year's contribution underlines once again the company's continuous commitment to support the upgrading of the Crisis Management Service of the Cyprus Red Cross.
Specifically, the donation in question is the result of the financial support campaign of Lidl Cyprus which took place from April 15 to May 4, 2024, where the company donated €0.20 to the Cyprus Red Cross, supporting the Crisis Management Service, with every scan of the Lidl Plus digital card. During this period, a total of 231,868 scans were made by the customers, from which the amount of €46,373.60 was collected, however the company proceeded to donate an amount of €50,000.
The official delivery of the check took place at the premises of the Lidl Food Academy in Nicosia, on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in the presence of representatives of Lidl Cyprus, the Cyprus Red Cross and the mass media, as well as other distinguished guests. This event highlighted the strong partnership between Lidl Cyprus and the Cyprus Red Cross, while honoring eleven years of coordinated effortsfor community support and crisis management.
Georgios Dimitroulakis, Head of Communication and Corporate Responsibility of Lidl Cyprus, expressed his pride in the long-term partnership, stating: “Lidl Cyprus, being a socially responsible company that listens to the needs of society, continues, over a decade, to globally strengthen the commendable humanitarian work of the Cyprus Red Cross. This year, with the support of the whole society, we offer the amount of €50,000 to cover the needs of the Organization's Crisis Management Service. A Service whose importance and role today is considered imperative, for the creation of a society of solidarity which is a core of values on the way to a better tomorrow for everyone.”
The Mr. Fotini Papadopoulou, President of the Cyprus Red Cross, expressed her gratitude for the continuous support, stating: “Thank you for adopting this institution for the second year in a row, with the contribution of fifty thousand Euros (€50,000). With the various donations, Lidl Cyprus' cooperation and contribution to the Cyprus Red Cross, over the years, has been of inestimable value.
