Hundreds of pigeons were in possession of three young people who were arrested last night by the Limassol police. The pigeons, which were allegedly previously stolen, were found in a car in which the young men were riding.
The pigeons were found when members of the police stopped the car for inspection in the Germasogeia area.
According to with a police announcement, three young foreigners were in the car. The driver is an asylum seeker, but the passengers did not have any documents showing their identity and so they were arrested for a background check.
From a subsequent investigation, 190 pigeons worth 1500 euros were found in the car, of which 51 were already dead. The three young men allegedly admitted that they had stolen the pigeons from a property in Pissouri, so they were taken into custody.
After indicating the place from which the pigeons were stolen, they were brought before the Limassol Provincial Court, where they were placed under three-day detention reservation.
