Matt Damon was in Cannes these days, as the new film in which he stars, Stillwater, had its official premiere in the non-competitive part of the Festival.
The American actor plays a builder who tries to get his daughter (Abigail Breslin) out of French prisons where she is convicted of murder. The screenplay is inspired by the true story of Amanda Knox, an American woman who spent almost four years in an Italian prison after being convicted of the 2007 murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher, only to be acquitted in 2015.

In fact, although it is not uncommon for creators to speak after the premiere of their films in Cannes, someone gave the microphone to McCarthy after the screening of Stillwater and he spoke to the audience and talked about how important it is to present his work in a historical Festival.
Although it is probably too early to talk about the next Oscars, many are already betting that Matt Damon will get the fourth nomination for the golden statuette!
