The environmental authority for the construction and operation of a youth camp for the Friends of the 76th SP Strovolos Association in the Lazania Community in Nicosia gave the green light.
The project will be built on state land, with a total area of 39,415 sq.m. which is located within the administrative boundaries of the community of Lazania.
It will consist of four buildings, kitchen-dining room, toilets-bathrooms, multipurpose space and storage. In addition, there will be a specially designed area for lighting a fire. The total area of the building facilities will amount to 593 sq.m. covered areas.
Furthermore, the area will be fenced, the areas where the tents will be placed, in which bases will be created from compacted soil and wooden frames, as well as the water supply and irrigation infrastructure will be formed.
The buildings will be located in the areas that pre-existed the camp facilities, where there is no tree or shrub vegetation. These points are already disturbed and flat and there is no need for further landscaping. The construction works are expected to be carried out in parts.
In the first phase, the space will be fenced, followed by the installation of the water supply, irrigation and fire safety network, followed by the construction of toilets – bathrooms, storage, kitchen – dining room and finally the multi-purpose room.
All building installations will be prefabricated and only their installation and final assembly will take place on site.
The project will be used by scouts mainly during the summer months and occasionally on weekends.
The maximum number of campers will be 100 people.
