Nominations for community leaders-community councilors are submitted on Monday

    To be submitted tomorrow, Monday to the local Election Commissioners the nominations for the positions of Presidents and members of Community Councils.

    According to announcementof the Ministry of the Interior, the nominations will be submitted on Monday, April 29 from 8:30 am to 12:30 noon.

    The nominations will be submitted to the Election Commissioners of Famagusta, Kyrenia, Larnaca, Limassol , Nicosia and Paphos at various points for submission of nominations, as determined for each community.

    Each nomination documentit must be signed by two voters, whose names are included in the electoral roll of the relevant Community, where each nomination is mentioned, and who sign the application, one as proposer and the other as supporter.

    No nomination paper will be valid and no action will be taken on this by the Electoral Officer, unless this is accompanied by the declaration of acceptance of the proposed candidate's candidacy, by the deposit of €200, for each Community Leader nomination and €100, for each Community Council Member nomination, either to the Accountant General or to the same the Registrar of Elections, in cash as a fee, the statement provided for by law, on the basis of which the eligibility qualifications of the candidate for election to the office of Community Leader or Community Council Member, as the case may be, are declared.

    A citizen of another member state, when submitting his candidacy, must submit a declaration specifying his nationality, the address of his habitual residence in the Republic, his last address in the member state of origin, where applicable, the last electoral roll in which he was registered in the Member State of origin, that he has not been declared disqualified from the right to be elected in the Member State of origin, that he does not have a status that falls under the incompatible provisions of the Law, the date from which he is a citizen of a Member State as well as a valid passport or identity card, issued by the member state of citizenship of the elector, or a certificate of registration of a citizen of the Union which concerns him and/or an identity card of the Republic.
