The message that we must keep our word for education and our national issue was sent by the Metropolitan of Paphos Georgios in the context of visits today to the Community Volunteer Councils (SCE) of Paphos and Geroskipou.

< p>The  Church, he said, is close to the youth, the Youth Center of the Diocese of Paphos is operating, while he announced that he intends to create Centers elsewhere so that our young people can be kept away from addictions and places where it is created a debilitating situation.

He mentioned that the Youth Center, in addition to the free dance, music and computer classes that are delivered, also has a gym with modern fitness equipment for the students to exercise. We know, said the Metropolitan of Paphos, that “sport is something that  which keeps young people away from soul-destroying situations and we intend to expand as we have already done in our camp with various fields and  to also expand this healthy employment of our youth”.

We have in mind, he stressed, to create  elsewhere the libraries we created in Paphos and to gather our cultural wealth to show  to young and old what our tradition is.

He also pointed out that “this tradition that we received from others, we should also hand it over to other generations so that they don't forget what the path of this place is”. He estimated, at the same time, that every Archbishop and every representative of the Church must also deliver a national speech, noting that Cyprus still has not been freed from the Turkish invader, our rights have not been fully restored and we can only keep our word our education and our speech on the national issue.

When the land is free,  he continued, when our rights are fully restored and a man has one vote, he will have freedom of settlement everywhere, freedom acquiring property everywhere and trafficking throughout Cyprus, then this role for the national issue will be placed by the Church on the shoulders of the government, which will be democratically elected and there will then be no danger of a diversion from the course of our issue.

The Metropolitan of Paphos set his vision in the context of his visits due to his  candidacy  for the Archbishopric throne of Cyprus, noting that the Church is everywhere the shelter of those who are in need, whether financial or moral and  spiritual support and will be by their side.
