Paphos was chosen as the European Capital of Smart Tourism for 2023

The city of Paphos is officially the European Capital of Smart Tourism for 2023, according to a post on the Social Media of the Mayor of Paphos Phaedon Phaedonos.

According to the Mayor of Paphos, it was announced tonight in Brussels, where the Paphos Municipality delegation had gone from Tuesday to present its proposal for the title of European Capital of Smart Tourism 2023.

The delegation consists of by the Director of Smart City Projects of the Municipality of Paphos, Dr. Zenon Zenonos and the Executive Director of the Tourism Development and Promotion Company of the Paphos Region, Nasos Hatzigeorgiou.

The two executives were invited by the evaluation committee of the competition to present today the proposal and the 2023 action plan before the jury.

The finalists chosen for the title of European Capital of Smart Tourism 2023 among 29 candidates out of 13 countries they were, in alphabetical order, Aarhus (Denmark), Gijon (Spain), Zagreb (Croatia), Paphos (Cyprus), Porto (Portugal), San Sebastian (Spain) and Seville (Spain) .

Finally, according to Mr. Phaedonos, the city of Paphos was chosen and is therefore officially the European Capital of Smart Tourism for 2023.

Paphos as the winning city it is expected to receive specialized communication and branding support for 2023. This will include the production of a promotional video, a specially designed “hashtag sculpture” for the city, as well as tailored promotion and outreach activities at European level as well as internationally.

Mr. Phaedon He congratulated Nassos Hatzigeorgiou of ETAP and Zenonos Zenonos of the Municipality of Paphos who “fought the battle” but also all those who contributed to the preparation.
