Oligopolistic or monopolistic policies at the level of the provision of health services can potentially bring about negative effects, reports the Board of Directors of PASYKI, which considers the existence of strong, robust and sustainable public hospitals.

In today's announcement, on the occasion of the continuation of the discussion in the Parliamentary Health Committee of the possible risks created by the looming acquisition of a number of private hospitals by an investment fund, PASYKI calls on the state to “finally surrender and prove the backbone in practice, before it's already too late”.

PASYKI hopes that the outcome of this discussion will bring about the long-awaited armoring of the General Health System, it will make it sustainable and primarily qualitative for patients, while at the same time ensuring the existence of the necessary infrastructure both in numbers and in kind.

Furthermore, he considers that a the necessity of submitting an overall global plan is indicated, with the aim of the targeted and healthy development of the health system of Cyprus, away from “competition” type concepts, in order to ensure the most valuable good of health.
