RIK and KYPE correspondent Nikos Katsikas was found dead at his home in Cairo

Nikos Katsikas, the correspondent of RIK and the Cypriot News Agency in Egypt, was found dead last night at his home in Cairo.

According to the first information, the Greek journalist was located by members of the Egyptian Police, who broke into the door of his house, after they had been accused that, for the last three days, he had not given signs of life. The case is being investigated by the Egyptian Police, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Greece, in Alexandria.

Nikos Katsikas had very close relations with the Patriarchate of Alexandria, of which he was Archon Protopsaltis. He was also the only Greek journalist permanently based in Egypt.

In addition to RIK and KYPE, he was also a correspondent for the Athenian News Agency and editor-in-chief of the website “Alexandrinos Tachydromos”, the official website and information portal for the Greek Community of Alexandria.
