The Turkish Cypriot side insists on a “model of two sovereign states”, which is compatible “with the realities in Cyprus”, says the Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, in view of the convening of an informal five-party.
According to a written statement from the Occupied Territories, Mr. Tatar stated that while efforts to convene the informal Pentagon continue, the T / C side's stance on the solution base continues with determination and that they will not back down.
“While our efforts to implement a model of two separate sovereigns that are in line with the realities in Cyprus continue, the challenges against the solution by the Greek Cypriot duo continue,” said Mr. Tatar.
In the written statement, which is a response to the reports of President Anastasiadis and the Greek Prime Minister during the latter's visit to Nicosia, Mr. Tatar reiterated the determination for political equality, sovereignty, protection of Turkish guarantees, the presence of Turkish troops in Cyprus. , the non-conversion of the “T / C people” into a minority, but also for the implementation of “the only realistic solution which is” the model of two sovereign separate states “as he claimed.
Mr. Tatar also claimed that in the midst of efforts to convene the informal Pentagon, unrealistic positions and accusations against the Turkish Cypriot side and Turkey “strengthen the dialogue and meetings,” he claimed.
Referring to the position of President Anastasiadis, he said that he aimed at ending the guarantees and for the withdrawal of the Turkish troops and claimed that this statement reflects the unchanging goal of the Greek Cypriot side to end the Turkish guarantees.
“As long as Turkey's guarantees and the presence of the Turkish army in Cyprus continue, they know very well that they can not achieve their goal,” he claimed.
He also claimed that Greece is the “real invader” in Cyprus. “Turkey has brought peace to the whole of Cyprus and the peacekeeping operation,” he said, adding that the referendums on the Annan plan and the experiences of Crans Montana revealed that “the solution model on the basis of the federation has been exhausted.”
“The Turkish people, who oppose being a minority of Greek Cypriots, want a solution based on the two separate sovereign states,” he said.
“This is the most realistic way to find a solution to the Cyprus problem. We will continue to walk on this path,” he concluded.
