A fifteen-year-old request seems to be fulfilled with the start of work on the new Hemodialysis Unit at the Paphos General Hospital, according to the Director of the Nephrology Clinic of the Paphos Hospital, Dr. Laki Giouka.
In his statements to KYPE, Dr. Gioukas stated that the construction of the new hemodialysis unit of the Paphos General Hospital begins, which will be housed in a separate building next to the church of the Paphos Hospital and the Intensive Care Unit of the Paphos General Hospital.
According to the Director of the Nephrology Clinic of Paphos Hospital, this is a state-of-the-art unit, a unit of European standards, adding that the project is expected to be completed within 18 months.
Asked about it, he said that in addition to the Hemodialysis Unit, it will include outpatient clinics, Short-Term Care Units, a small surgery for minor surgeries such as the insertion of central catheters. He also continued, it includes a peritoneal cleansing unit that does not exist until today in the province of Paphos.
In addition to the regular Hemodialysis Unit, he said, it will also include a separate hemodialysis unit for infectious patients who do not currently have the Paphos and Limassol Hospitals.
In relation to the existing Hemodialysis Unit, he stressed that it is housed in a very small space, and created problems due to the narrowness of the space. He pointed out that with the new Hemodialysis Unit for at least 15 years the patients of Paphos will be served to the maximum, he concluded.
