Work will begin immediately – The cost of the project amounts to €9.8 million.
The contract was signed on Wednesday with the company Cyfield Construction Ltd for the implementation of the road project “Improvement of Tseriou Street in Strovolos”, the Municipality of Strovolos states in a statement, noting that the work will start immediately and is expected to be completed within 104 weeks.
According to the announcement, the cost of the project amounts to €9.8 million (exact amount €9,836,275.20) plus VAT. Following the decision of the Council of Ministers, the project will be carried out as an urban project, with the cost being shared 80% by the state and 20% by the Municipality of Strovolos.
The length of the intervention on Tseriou Street is 2.20 km and 1.20 in the contracted periods. Sidewalks with a width of 2-3 meters will be built on each side, a rainwater drainage system will be built to deal with the frequent flooding phenomena and drain them into the Pediaos river, all utilities and services of telecommunications providers will be underground.
Also, as part of the project, 275 new parking spaces, 18 new pedestrian crossings, 14 bus stops will be created and 530 basins will be built on the pavements for planting new tall trees suitable for road arteries with the aim of reducing the heat island effect as and for the collection of CO2.
According to the Municipality, “new Tseriou preserves its commerciality, identity and local character, safeguarding safety and prioritizing people”.
