The "deep sadness" for the death of Andreas Dimitropoulos, expresses the Ecological Intervention – Friends of Akamas.
The group, in a statement, states that Dimitropoulos "was one of the main pillars in the fight for the protection of the environment in Cyprus and internationally, with his work, his scientific knowledge, consistency and resistance to unprecedented pressures, even war from those who saw him as an obstacle to their own environmentally destructive plans».
Worker for 34 years in the Fisheries Department of which he was Director, it is stated, "honored the status of a public servant with honesty, making Cyprus known, especially through his actions for the protection of turtles".
It is added that after his retirement, he continued his active involvement in environmental issues, offering his knowledge and experience non-profit by supporting the work of the Federation of Environmental Organizations and representing it in national scientific committees for the protection and management of the environment.
It is obvious, it is reported, that an assessment of the work of Andreas Dimitropoulos "doesn't fit in an announcement at the time of farewell".
