The Memorandum of Cooperation of the Municipality of Paphos-TEPAK for the school in Paphos is signed today

In an official ceremony that will take place at 6.00 pm today, at the Cultural Center “Attikon”, the Municipality of Paphos and the Cyprus University of Technology sign a Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment and operation in our city of the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Entrepreneurship of TE.PA.K.

The Memorandum will be co-signed by the Mayor of Paphos, Faidonas Faidonos, the Rector of TE.PA.K. Panagiotis Zafeiris and the Chairman of the Board of the University of Technology Frixos Savvidis, in the presence of the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Prodromos Prodromos.

The program of the ceremony includes reading of the Memorandum of Cooperation, speech by the Mayor of Paphos Faidonas Faidonos, speech by the Rector of TE.PA.K. Panagiotis Zafeiris, greeting from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Prodromos Prodromos, signing of the Memorandum and open reception with a music program in the courtyard of the Old Electric.

The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation is the culmination of the actions and consultations of the Municipality of Paphos with TE.PA.K. and the Government during the last two and a half years that reached the agreement for the establishment in Paphos of the School of Tourism Management, Hospitality and Entrepreneurship. The School will include two academic Departments and an Institute of Tourism Professions.

For this purpose, the Municipality grants to TE.PA.K. the plot next to the Church of Panagia Pantanassa in which the new Municipal Palace of Paphos was to be erected. The new facilities will be erected and completed by the Municipality of Paphos with state funding, through European funds, amounting to 7.6 million euros, until July 2023. In total, the Municipality grants to TE.PA.K. assets in excess of EUR 12 million. The operation of the School is expected to begin in 2023, with the capacity to host more than 1000 students.
