In a written statement, Deputy Government Spokeswoman Niovi Parisinou noted that President Anastasiadis, during today's meeting with the competent bodies of the GESS, stressed the Government's determination to address problems that have been observed and concern mainly the abuses of the system, a development that leads to increase health expenditure and affect the level and quality of health care.
He added that & nbsp; President Anastasiadis stressed the need for the OAU to implement effective control mechanisms as soon as possible in order to minimize system abuses.
Ms. Parisinou also pointed out that during the meeting it was agreed & nbsp; control mechanisms to be discussed at a new meeting to be convened by the President of the Republic after Easter.
“According to data, public health expenditures in 2021, including pandemic expenditures, are estimated to have increased by 1.4 percentage points of GDP, compared to 2020 from 6% to 7.4% of GDP. The meeting also discussed the issue of providing in-hospital health care to beneficiaries from non-contracted OAY doctors to OAY contracted hospitals.
President Anastasiadis asked for a circular to be sent quickly in order to finally end the current regime. The meeting also discussed the progress of the process of autonomy and sustainability of public hospitals and the implementation of OKYPY development projects. President Anastasiadis instructed that a specific action plan be prepared on the basis of timetables that include mechanisms for control, organization and operation of public hospitals. Issues related to the electronic patient file and the Accident and Emergency Departments of the hospitals were also discussed and decisions were made to finally resolve the issue that arose regarding the number of physiotherapies for minor patients with cerebral palsy.
The President of the Republic stressed once again his determination to protect the GESY, the greatest social conquest of the citizens. The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Finance and Health, the Undersecretary to the President, the Assistant Attorney General, the Auditor General, the General Directors of the Ministries of Finance and Health, the Presidents of the OAY, the OKYPY and other officials.
