The vaccinated British will soon be able to return to the beaches of Europe

Britain is working to ease travel restrictions for fully vaccinated people to allow people to enjoy summer holidays on Europe's beaches, but plans have not yet been finalized, Health Minister Matt Hancock said today.

At the moment, British citizens are virtually unable to travel to most countries, including those in the European Union, as quarantine rules and tests are strict and costly.

The travel industry has asked Britain to lift testing and isolation requirements for fully vaccinated travelers, as provided for in a European Union plan.

Hancock told Sky News that the government wants to let people go on family vacations, but only when it is safe.

“We are working on plans to effectively allow the vaccine to bring back some of the freedoms that needed to be restricted to keep people safe,” Hancock told Sky News.

Asked if the vaccinated would have regained their freedoms by August to enjoy a holiday abroad this year, Hancock said the government wants to ensure security but also understands the people who want their freedoms back.

“When I am able to say something more specific, then we will do it, but it is something we are definitely working on, it is something I want to see happen,” he added.

Britain has the seventh highest number of Covid-19 deaths in the world with almost 128,000 deaths, but has also developed one of the fastest vaccination campaigns, delivering a first dose of Covid-19 vaccine to 80% of adults and a second dose at almost 60%.
