Open for consultation until May 27, 2022 is the environmental impact study for the construction and operation of a large luxury hotel development in the community of Pyrgos, in Limassol, owned by G. Frantzis Developing Ltd. The project concerns the construction and operation of a thirteen-storey hotel category 5 *, which will include, among others, 36 luxury rooms, reception areas, offices, bars, children's work area, restaurant, 29 parking spaces, of which 22 will be basements, 7 basements and 3 of them for the disabled, outdoor swimming pools/hot tubs, a basement with an indoor swimming pool, a hairdresser/beauty salon, storage areas, a sauna room, massage parlors and a wellness center.
In the area of the proposed project there is an unfinished building that concerns the constructed foundations, masonry and roof of a house, which was constructed on the basis of a previous Urban Planning and Building Permit. This unfinished building was included in the application for a Planning Permit, in order to finally be formed in three of the hotel rooms, a swimming pool and other recreational areas in the basement, which will be housed in a separate building from the main one. The three-storey building will consist of 3 above-ground floors, including the ground floor, with a double room in each of them, an outdoor swimming pool, 3 parking spaces, of which 2 will be underground and one above ground and one underground. with gym, sauna, steam room, swimming pool engine room, storage rooms, entertainment room and swimming pool overflow tank (balance tank). Therefore, the total capacity of the hotel unit will amount to 78 beds.
The proposed development aims to enrich and improve the tourist product of the suburban area of Limassol, by providing a high level of luxury development, which is expected to enhance the coastal area of the community of Pyrgos Limassol, offering a comfortable stay and hospitality. to development users, ensuring the highest priority in areas of environmental importance, since there is a plan to obtain the Green Key Quality Label. In addition, the operation of the proposed project is expected to further enrich the economic potential of the wider area, provide more employment opportunities in the area, provide a high degree of public service from the project infrastructure and facilities, and upgrade the area to pole of attraction of quality tourism.
As part of the measures and urban incentives for the recovery of the development activity and the tourism industry in Cyprus, the development body wishes with the proposed project to enhance the pace of tourism development of the Limassol Tower, in an effort to attract foreign and local holidaymakers. The proposed development is located at a strategic point, near the exit of the Nicosia – Limassol highway and close to other existing tourist developments. The cost of implementation of the proposed project is estimated at € 20,000,000, which will be covered by own funds of the Development Agency.

The Jury will evaluate the studies that will be submitted and will award the best with the following awards and distinctions: First Prize € 20,000, Second Prize € 10,000 Third Prize € 5,000, Praise (up to three) € 2,500 each. The studies must be submitted by June 22, 2022 at the latest.
Qatar and Kuwait visa-free in the EU
The European Commission has proposed the abolition visa requirement for Qatari and Kuwaiti citizens and once this proposal is agreed, Qatari and Kuwaiti citizens holding biometric passports will no longer need a visa when traveling to the EU for short stays of up to 90 days, at any time 180 days, for business, tourism or family purposes.
