“Our differences with AKEL have nothing to do with the elections, but with our deep beliefs in relation to the European Union, the European principles and values themselves. The Democratic Alarm is the political force that pioneered and paved the way for Europe. AKEL was then across the street. It's the other way around today,” says the President of Democratic Alert. She notes that despite the fact that he tries to hide his anti-Europeanism, he doesn't succeed. Even today, he says, they accused the European Union of bringing impoverishment. “When it's their own policies that got us there. And we all remember it very well. They have the audacity to talk about democracy and Europe, when in anti-European populism they identify with ELAM. With a more shocking example the recent vote against the Pact for the strict management of immigration”.
He emphasizes that the bet for our country is huge, adding that it is a battle that will decisively decide whether our Cyprus will have a strong voice and role in Europe at a time when it is needed more than ever.
“Each vote in AKEL is a vote against the European idea. Against the interests of our country. It is an open invitation for even more immigrants. It is a justification of the policy of bankruptcy. And this can be seen from their political actions and not from their words. That is why the Democratic Alarm must win the elections. Because this is in the interest of our Cyprus and the citizens”, he concludes.
