After more than a year on the surface of Mars , the Chinese robotic spacecraft Tianwen-1 took pictures covering the entire red planet , the country's space agency announced on Wednesday.
The Tianwen-1 probe, which means “search for the celestial truth”, was launched in 2020 and landed on Mars last May. In a statement, the National Space Agency of China (CNSA) said that the spacecraft has now completed all the tasks assigned to it, including capturing medium-resolution images covering all over the world.
Images, posted by the space agency on social media, show the rough ground of the Martian landscape: red dunes, “shield” volcano, craters, the ice layer of the South Pole, the rocks and ridges of the Valles Marineris gorge (Mariner Valley) & # 8211; one of the largest gorges in our solar system.

The images were taken by the Chinese spacecraft, the which orbited Mars 1,344 times, capturing images of the planet from every angle as the rover explored the surface, the CNSA reported.

The probe has collected 1,040 gigabytes of raw scientific data, which has been processed by scientists on Earth and handed over to research teams for further study, the service said.

CNSA says it has shared spacecraft flight information with NASA > And the European Space Agency (ESA) and scientific data will be available to international scientists “at the right time”.
With the temperatures to fall during the winter on Mars, as well as with poor sand and dust conditions, the rover entered a state of inactivity on May 18 that will last until waking of December.
